Dinosaur

Diane made this quilt for her nephew, a great way to use a panel and a great gift for a little boy who likes dinosaurs.

The dinosaur quilt is quilted with pantograph by Dave Hudson called dinosaurs and a titanium  coloured thread.  Here you can see a stegosaurus.

And here is a brontosaurus.

Diane found a great complimentary fabric for the back of this prehistoric quilt.

Crazy Heart Quilt

Crazy Heart is my One Monthly Goal (OMG) for June.  So happy to have completed this quilt, I’ve enjoyed the whole process and just love the shabby chic fabrics and look.

 

I start this quilt at a Buggy Barn workshop in Red Deer, Alberta in 2013 which my friend Carolyn and I attended.

In the pattern all the blocks are right up against each other, however I felt some sashing would define the blocks and give the eye a place to rest.

 

I also wanted the quilt to be bigger, so I decided to add a piano key border.

Once the top was complete I sewed all the left over bits of fabric together for the back of the quilt.

And just before quilting it with the Wild at Heart pantograph by Jodi Beamish and a soft pink thread called Cotton Candy,

 

I remembered to put a label on it.

 

Funny thing, my adult son and my husband love this quilt, so do I, it’s going to be a summer quilt for my bed.

Little Scraps of Sunshine

After blogging Joanne’s quilt, I thought that High Five would make a nice Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt, and I decided to start one.

If I make one large block and ten small blocks each month I should end up with a decent sized quilt and use up a few more scraps.

The High Five pattern is by Amanda Jean Nyberg and can be found in the book Sunday Morning Quilts.

This is the last Saturday for June and the colour yellow, so I am looking forward to July and a new colour.  See what others have done with yellow at The Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

Cozy Wedding Gift

My friend and neighbor, Candy made this cozy flannel quilt as a wedding gift for nephew Dan and his wife Carrie.

 

I don’t think there could be a better quilting match than the Falling Leaves pantograph by Dave Hudson, and a Sunset variegated thread.

Donna’s Rose Garden Quilt

This is another quilt that I might want to make, I love pink and green, and I like how this pattern brings them together, I think the quilt sparkles, like sun shining on a forest floor.

To add to the theme, Donna chose the Rambler Rose pantograph by Meredith England.

 

And a Peppermint Pink Glide thread.

 

Donna also had a complimentary floral fabric for the back of this quilt.

Carol’s quilts

This first cutie was made for Carol’s swimming instructor, who was going to be leaving for a new job.  She must be a kitten lover (as is Carol).

 

Carol sweet name for this quilt Counting Kittens, so appropriate.

 

She picked the ‘I Love It’ pantograph by Anne Bright, one of her favourites.

She must have really liked her swim instructor, quilters amaze me with their generousity.

Carol’s second quilt she called Chocolate & Cherries, and I just loved how this quilt looked when I loaded it on my long-arm with the sun shining on it.

Margaret made this beautiful Red and White king size quilt for a friend

The pattern is called Day and Night by Eleanor Burns.

Day and Night is quilted with the Double Plume pantograph and a cream coloured thread.
