from start to finish: a quilting primer

Last weekend I taught the quilting primer class at Out of Hand (a quilt shop and more). We had eight graduates either learning all the steps of quilting for the first time, learning tricks and techniques to add to what they already know, or revisiting beginner quilting to reaffirm their skills.

Here they are with their beautiful quilts:
January & Tara - friends
Kelly & Ruth

Paula & Cathy - sisters

Penny & Helle

Thank you all for taking A Quilt Primer, I love turning people on to quilting, and hope to see you in a future class.

Quilt Primer is a comprehensive introduction to the art of quilting, where you come for an evening prep class to discuss colour theory and choose fabrics, then over the course of the two day workshop, you will learn quilting terminology, rotary cutting, strip piecing, machine quilting and binding. After a weekend of fun and learning you will complete a crib size quilt and most likely be planning your next project.

Creativity is a great motivator because it makes people interested in what they are doing. Creativity gives hope that there can be a worthwhile idea. Creativity gives the possibility of some sort of achievement to everyone. Creativity makes life more fun and more interesting. ~ Edward de Bono
