Infinite Hearts Complete

My June goal to complete quilting and binding the Infinite Hearts baby quilt and a Pink Stars quilt has been achieved.  

Infinite Hearts is a pattern by Quilty Love and the little star quilt was a bonus, made with the trimmed bits of the hearts.  I made these two quilts while participating in a quilt along with Emily Dennis of Quilty Hearts. I enjoy the look of her quilts and her well written and easy to follow patterns.

Infinite Hearts was quilted with the ‘I Love it’ pantograph by Anne Bright and a pale pink glide thread called cotton candy.

I found a very soft pink fabric for the back of the heart quilt. 

Pink Stars was quilted with the Shooting Star pantograph by Sue Schmieden and the cotton candy thread. 

I used a white on white star fabric for the back of the Pink Star quilt. 

 Happy to have two more quilts finished, and happy to participate in Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal.

A new goal for a new month

For June I’m setting my goal to quilt and bind these two baby quilts.  I made Infinite Hearts participating in a quilt along with Quilty Love. 

This little star quilt was a bonus in the pattern, using up the trimmed bits from Infinite Hearts. 

They are both baby/crib size, so I should be able to quilt and bind them this month.  I’m thankful for Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal linkup, helping me to keep on track and finish my many ongoing projects.

Baby Rainbow Mile a Minute

Quilting and binding this baby rainbow mile a minute quilt was my goal for May and Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal, and thankfully I was able to get it done.  I started playing with multi-coloured scraps in November 2020 and then completed the top in November as well.

I was able to sew the binding on and get some nice photos while on a little get-away to Overlander Lodge in Jasper, where my husband and I celebrated our 34^th anniversary.  A little sewing, a little knitting, lots of reading and some great food, a very relaxing retreat.

Baby Rainbow Mile a Minute 2021

My bonus goal was to piece the top of a rainbow quarter log cabin quilt, and here it is.

Finishing goals for May

To participate in Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal (OMG) linkup, I would like to quilt and bind this Baby Rainbow Mile a Minute quilt. 

Alison Glass' Spectrum Feathers fabric is a perfect compliment for the back of this rainbow quilt.

As a bonus I would like to piece the top of another rainbow project that I have on the go - these quarter log cabins.  

Let’s see if I can do it!

Skull Top Complete

I’ve accomplished my April goal to complete the top of Richard’s Skull quilt. 

I was having a bit of trouble getting this picture, trying to avoid my shadow and dealing with a slight breeze. Here's a close up so you can enjoy some of the fabrics.

I thought I might continue and piece all the leftover bits of the skull fabric together for a backing, and then my husband got the idea that I should make them into the shape of a skull, so it’s going to be a little more work than expected.  I liked his idea and drew up a picture on some graph paper of a pixelated skull and have begun cutting.

Reaching my goal allows me to participate in Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal, and in the next few days I'll be posting my goal for May.

Skulls a Quarantine Quilt

The fabric for this quilt has been sitting, prepped and ready to begin for a few months, looking at me every time I enter my studio, so it’s time to take it to the next step. 

My goal for the month of April will be to complete the top of this quilt for my husband.  He likes skulls, so whenever we are in a quilting store he is looking for and collecting skulls, sugar skulls and day of the dead fabric.  He has collected quite a stash and I think it’s time I started this quilt before his skulls take over my quilting room. 

Wanting to feature the fabric, I picked (with his approval) the Aussie shadow quilt pattern found Quiltmania: The Quilt magazine No, 60.  I used two blocks of most fabrics and three blocks of some of the favourites.  This is going to end up being a near queen sized quilt.

Finished Object

My goal for March was to quilt and bind this scrappy quilt called UFO Complete.  UFO stands for UnFinished Object in quilter lingo. 

This quilt pattern can be found in the book Simple Strategies for Block-Swap Quilts by Lynn Roddy Brown. I was inspired by my friend Doreen’s version which I quilted for her in 2015 and blogged here. 

This quilt has a little story, as most of them do.  Each year I cull my stash and send fabric to Ujamaa Grandma’s annual fabric sale. So one year as I was collecting fabrics to deliver to them I decided to cut a strip of each fabric before I let them go.  I cut these strips big enough for the components of the blocks in this quilt, and that was the beginning.  Piecing this quilt was an excellent leader/ender project and slowly it came together.

Quilted with the Double Plume pantograph b by Keryn Emmerson, and a Honey Gold Glide thread. 

I had one larger piece of suitable backing fabric in my stash and was able to find a couple of complimentary fabrics to make the back big enough. 

 

Happily March’s goal is complete so that I can take part in Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal.  And now it’s time to find a project to finish for April.
