My little Irish Chain

I have completed my OMG (One Monthly Goal) for October, just under the wire, and I’m posting it just under the wire as well.  I finished sewing the binding on yesterday evening while watching Stranger Things, and now at the last hour I’m posting it on Elm Street Quilts finish Link-up.

 

I love the freshness of the aqua colours in this quilt, a bit of a contrast to the Autumn colours so abundant.

 

Quilted with the Angelica pantograph by Patricia E. Ritter and a Mint coloured Glide thread.

 

This will be added to my Baby quilt stash, as I believe I’m down a couple.  It feels good to have another quilt complete, no matter how small.

High Five in Pink

This month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge I pulled out my pink scraps.

 

I’ve completed some pink High Five quilt blocks and they will join the orange, blue and yellow that I have already finished over the past few months of the Challenge.  It’s hard to call anything so much fun a challenge.

I always try to have a leader/ender project going while sewing at my machine, so I put together a few pink squares for my postage stamp quilt. 

 

I now have enough square for a full/queen size quilt, so I’m going to have to find another leader/ender project.  Any suggestions?

OMG

Oh my goodness, it’s been a while since I’ve posted, so let’s begin with an OMG (One Monthly Goal).

Starting back little with this baby sized Single Irish Chain quilt in aqua.

 

I’ve had the top done for a while, and just recently picked up this delightful Kaffe Fassett fabric for the back.

 

I will be teaching a beginner quilting class this month, and this little quilt is what everyone will be completing, in their own fabric choice.  In class students will quilt the three layers together on their domestic machines, however I thought it would be nice to quilt this on my long-arm machine.  Then I can also show them options, particularly once they start making bigger quilts which are not so easy on a domestic machine.

I haven’t decided what pattern to use for quilting, so you might want to drop by at the end of the month to see how this little guy looks.

Scrappy Orange Saturday

I’ve been enjoying playing with my orange scraps this week, they seem so bright and cheery and they are our theme colour for the RainbowScrap Challenge (RSC) and the month of September.

A Rainbow project that still needed orange was the High Five blocks I’m assembling.

 

I thought this pattern by Amanda Jean Nyberg in the book Sunday Morning Quilts would be an excellent project to play with for the RSC.  My plan is to make ten little squares and one large one each month as our colours change.

I also added a few orange leaders and enders for my future postage stamp quilt, I only need 168 more of these little sets and I will have enough for a full size quilt, getting close.

 

While taking these pictures I turned to see the Queen of Hearts and my deck planter enjoying the sunshine.

Judy’s quilts

I have three quilts by Judy to show, the first has a whole cloth on the front and the back, surrounded by a border made of shade of green squares.

 

I like how this turned out, Judy chose the ‘I Love It’ pantograph by Anne Bright and a Maroon coloured Glide thread.

The second quilt is called French  Provincial.

 

I really like how the Double Plume pantograph by Keryn Emmerson looks on this quilt.  We used a bright pink Glide thread called Peppermint.

 

Judy’s third quilt she called Tumblin’ Teddy Quilt, named after a pantograph by Patricia Ritter.

 

Judy likes my pantographs and likes to feature them on some of her quilts, so she uses plain fabric and zings them with complimentary fabric.

 

Shows quite nicely on the back as well.

APQ Quilt Along 2005

Janet loves to decorate with quilts and I just love how this quilt looks in Janet’s home and on the deck.

A great fabric for the back and orange peel looks good here too.

Alison’s Mom’s Double Wedding Ring quilt

Alison took my Double Wedding Ring class, which I teach every other year, with the idea of making her mom a quilt, and here is the beautiful result.

 

While still on my long-arm machine being quilted.

 

I love how it looked with the sun shining through it.
