Scrappy Trip Along in Grey

This month the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is going to the ‘Dark Side’ and I decided to start with grey and the scrappy trip along block.
Scrappy Trip Along

I also did a bunch of scrap management, it looks like a little, however it takes a bunch of time.
Scrap Management

I’m managing my scraps using the Go Accuquilt Cutter and cutting strips, usually 2 ½ inch - because that’s what I need for the scrappy trip along, and another scrappy quilt I’m working on – then 2 inch because it’s a good measurement and the size I cut my bindings after that whatever size I can get with what is left.  With some of the larger scraps I see how the scraps fit on either the 4 inch square or the large or small tumbler cutter.

The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web. ~ Pablo Picasso

… A scrap of fabric, the world wide web.

  5. Oh I do like your grey scrappy...do you have the Go Baby or the biggy Accuquilt. I have the Go Baby and love it...even tho' it takes time to prep the fabrics for cutting...nice work with these difficult blacks/greys...hugs, Julierose

    1. Julierose, I have the bigger Accuquilt cutter and even tho' I do a little fabric prep I believe it saves me a lot of time cutting, also it's easier on the body than rotary cutter and ruler.

  6. Great job on stash management. It is time consuming, but makes sewing so much easier when the time comes.

    1. It certainly does make some of my sewing easier. A couple of weeks ago I grabbed a bunch of 2 inch greens and made a lovely scrappy binding for a scrappy quilt, so easy and fun.

    1. Catrina, I highly recommend the Accuquilt cutter. I show students in all my classes, even if it's just to cut the binding. It really saves on wear and tear on the body, also a time saver, so quick and easy. Check around for a good price.
