Doreen’s Fashion Fusion quilt

Doreen has a knack for colour and using up scraps, I’m always inspired when I see her quilts.  This one she has named Fashion Fusion, it certainly is a fusion of many fashionable fabrics.

Fashion Fusion is quilted with the Calm Water pantograph by Anne Bright and a sand coloured thread.

Here it is with its lovely coordinating back.

Fusion - the process or result of joining two or more things together to form a single entity.  Isn’t that what quilters do?

Lavender Path Quilt

Sandra made this lovely Lavender Path quilt for her bedroom, both she and her husband love the colour lavender.

We decided to quilt right up the middle of the lavender paths (rows) and in between with the Déjà vu pantograph by Patricia E. Ritter and Valerie Smith, I love the way it turned out.

A beautiful backing to complement this gentle quilt.

As Rosemary is to the Spirit, so Lavender is to the Soul.

Week Four City Tiles QAL

The goal for this week was to complete three City Tiles quilt blocks, here are two complete and once again as last week, one just about there.  I will finish it by the end of today, it's already waiting by my sewing machine.

These blocks are large, finishing at 18 inches, there will be 16 in all and the quilt should finish at around 80 x 80 inches.  So far I have eight completed and one just about there.

You can find the City Tiles QAL at Quilty Love, and you can see other lovely blocks and colours at #citytilesqal.

Purple High Fives

February’s colours for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge RSC is purple and lavender, so my first project for the month are these High Five quilt blocks.

My idea is to make one large block and ten small blocks for each month of the RSC, and then hopefully I’ll have about the right amount for a quilt top.

You can find the High Five quilt and many other scrappy quilt patterns in the book Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Jean Nyberg and Cheryl Arkison.

This winter we have had record amounts of snow in Calgary, here is a picture of my back yard, my garden chairs are nearly covered in show, and the trees are full as well.  It is very pretty and so clean looking.

For a little eye candy and inspiration check out what others are doing as Soscrappy.

Leanne’s BOM

This delightful little quilt was a 2012 Fat Quarter Shop Block of the Month Program.  I just love the colours in it and isn't the sashing fun?

Leanne picked a pantograph called Déjà Vu by Patricia E. Ritter and Valerie Smith and a very light pink thread called Cotton Candy, both excellent choices for this quilt.

The term déjà vu is French and means, literally, "already seen." Those who have experienced the feeling describe it as an overwhelming sense of familiarity with something that shouldn't be familiar at all.

100 Modern Quilt Blocks

This is Beatrice’s version of Tula Pink’s 100 Modern Quilt Blocks.

I have seen a few versions of this quilt and love every one of them (maybe I should try it).  Perhaps you can tell how much I liked it by the number of pictures I took,  here are a couple during quilting on my Millennium Long-arm machine.

Here is the lovely quilt being caught by the wind.

I like what Beatice did with the back of this quilt.

And here is a close-up of the quilting, Beatrice picked the Chantilly Lace pantograph by Norma Sharp and an off-white variegated thread.

February’s One Monthly Goal

So for this month I want to quilt and bind this Jelly Roll Race quilt.  Having made a couple of Jelly Roll Race quilts I decided I wanted to add a little something to the quilt, so I used diagonal joins and added a zing of another colour.  I thought aqua would complement the orange/corals in the Jelly Roll.

I dug through my stash and found some complementary pieces to make up the back of the quilt.

I wanted to call this quilt something like Fire and Ice and  then I found this pantograph by Hermoine Agee called Aqua Flame, perhaps that’s a good name for the quilt.

My friend Sandy thought I needed to include a picture with my sox which matched the quilt.

I enjoy knitting while watching TV with my husband, these are a pair of my own.

I just checked and there are 144 entries for February’s OMGat Elm Street Quilts, check them out.
