Just One Slab

Of all the Calgary flood quilt projects happening, I found one that was appealing and possible for me to participate in.  Cheryl Arkinson, one of the author’s of Sunday Morning Quilts is collecting slabs - a 15.5 inch scrappy square - to make into quilts.  You can read about the project and how to put a slab together at her Dining Room Empire blog.

I decided to make a teal block to combine the Flood Relief project and the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.
Just one slab

I enjoyed the process and hope to sew a few more to help clear my scrap drawer.  Putting the block together is very much like my Mile a Minute quilt block, just not as wonky and much bigger.

Be sure to check out Cheryl’s Dining Room Empire blog, there is a deadline ofJuly 30th to participate, and stop by Soscrappy to see what others are doing in Teal.

  6. Yum! Aren't these fun? Maybe your block and mine will end up living as neighbours in the same quilt!!

  7. Those slab blocks look like a lot of fun and I'll bet the quilts will be awesome with all those different colors and fabrics.
