Cogs quilt top

My One Monthly Goal (OMG) for November, which was to piece the Cogs quilt top, is complete.  I did play with a few arrangements until I settled on this one.

Not the best photo, I took this picture outside and it seems to have gone very blue.  Here is the picture I took inside at the beginning of the month, maybe a little more true to colour.

Cogs is by Leila Gardunia and I found it in the Summer 2015 edition of Fons & Porter’s Scrap Quilts.

Finding a backing and quilting it will be a goal for another month, Cogs can now join my pile of completed quilt tops, and now it is time for me to consider what I can complete for December.  Something simple, as Christmas preparations will take a big part of my December time.

I’m linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal, I wonder how many others were able to complete their goals this month?

Black Scraps

This week I got to spend sewing time with some of my quilting buddies and I decided to play with my black scraps.  I have many Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects on the go and I needed black blocks for a couple of them.

First I worked on some High Five blocks in black.

High five block pattern is from the book Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Jean Nyberg and Cheryl Arkison.

Next two black slabs, I should now have enough blocks for a Missing U quilt, also from Sunday Morning Quilts.

Goal for November

It’s One Monthly Goal (OMG) time again.  I’ve decided this month to piece another top, since I have all the blocks completed.  In fact here are the last three blocks which I just finished.
And here is a picture of the blocks laid out with sashing and corners.  I’m not sure if this is the exact way it will go together,  I’ll have to look at it for a couple of days to see if something needs moving.

This quilt is called Cogs and I’ve been sewing blocks over the last year while participating in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  Cogs is by Leila Gardunia and I found it in the Summer 2015 edition of Fons & Porter’s Scrap Quilts.  A quilting friend was making this quilt in her favourite colours and I loved how it looked and thought it would be a good project to work on through the year with my scraps.

I’m participating in Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and my goal is to complete this full/queen quilt top, better get on it as the last top I pieced took way longer than I thought it would.
