Rainbow Scrap Challenge – Neutral

Mile a Minute

I felt 'challenged' with Neutral chosen for this month’s Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  I had an idea of what I was going to do with the entire set of Mile a Minute quilt blocks that I was making in the Rainbow colours and neutral didn’t fit with my idea.  So I pulled all my neutrals out and decided to add a rainbow colour to each quilt block, then I wasn’t sure what to do with seven blocks, so I added a grey and a black and now I have nine little blocks, perhaps I can make a little quilt or a table topper or… any other suggestions? I still have to figure out sashing and borders.  I wonder if I can it get completed by the last Saturday of neutral?

In the end I enjoyed the Neutral challenge, it got the creative juices flowing!

Have a look at some of the other Neutral ideas at soscrappy.

  1. Love your neutral plus blocks. 6 string blocks makes a nice place-mat, but 9 could easily be a table topper or wall hanging. It has been fun to see how people interpret neutral to make it work for them.

  2. I love your little blocks. I like the idea of adding a bit of colour. It still uses up so much of the neutral scraps. I hope to see you finish by the end of the month too. I hope to get my quilt top done by the end of the month.

  3. I had the same problem with my plan for my rainbow quilt - the neutrals just wouldn't fit. My solution - start a new log cabin quilt!

  4. Your blocks look great and what a good idea to add a rainbow strip to each - very clever!
