Quilt Primer

Last weekend I taught the beginner quilting class at Out of Hand called ‘A Quilt Primer’ After an enjoyable weekend of learning and completing a crib size quilt I think we have some new (or renewed) quilters thinking about their next project.

Jackie is a friend of my son Callum and she has been interested in trying quilting for quite some time, Jackie got her mom Jean, her aunt Kim and cousin Jocy all to take the class with her.

Rosemarie took A Quilt Primer in February and finished one quilt of two for a friends expected set of twins, she decided to take the class again to complete the second quilt. An excellent idea, as she had two days of dedicated time without interruptions to complete her second quilt.

Thank you all for taking A Quilt Primer, I love turning people on to quilting, and hope to see you in a future class.

You don’t have to be great to get started, but you do have to get started to be great.

Royal Blue Hearts

This week for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge I worked on my Rainbow of Hearts blocks.  I found a couple of bits of Royal Blue and made six hearts to add to my collection.

Here is a sample of what I have so far.

A few leader/enders in blue as well, these squares are 2 ½ unfinished and are from my managed scraps stash.

Now I’m off to teach Quilt Primer for the weekend as well as a dinner and trunk show tonight by Terry Morberg of Applepatch Designs at the Heritage Park Festival of Quilts.
