The Rainbow Scrap Challenge colour for the month of May is
green, and I decided to work on my birch
tree quilt blocks.
Birch tree quilt blocks |
The pattern is from Amanda Jean Nyberg who blogs at CrazyMom Quilts, she is also the co-author of the book Sunday Morning Quilt and now has a new book out called No Scrap Left Behind. The background fabric is hand-dyed from Colorwaysby Vicki Welsh, I was the lucky winner of a rainbow of these lovely fabrics in
a past Rainbow Scrap Challenge.
Here are all the birch tree blocks I have so far. Yellow, blue and orange are waiting for their
month. I’m enjoying playing with these
hand-dyed fabrics and this block pattern, and I’m looking forward to seeing how
this little quilt will turn out.

These blocks are so beautiful. I've admired the pattern and thought it just might be fun to make. Seeing yours, I'm convinced I have to try it.
ReplyDeleteLove those birch trees and such a great quote to go with your post. I was just playing with some of her hand dyes in my RSC 2015 quilt... they are so fun to sew with.
ReplyDeleteLove those blocks! I'm going to have to copy you one of these days and make some myself. Maybe an entire quilt?
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks and that pattern. I made a Birch Trees quilt a couple years ago (check out the Gallery page on my blog) for my grandson. It would be fun to do another. Yours is looking awesome!
ReplyDeleteToo cute!! I love them all layed out next to each other
ReplyDeleteThe hand dyed fabrics really set off the blocks well. The green looks like the middle of a forest where the high branches are shading the background. So fresh!
ReplyDeleteLovely blocks.
ReplyDeleteThat's going to be such a pretty quilt. LOVE the addition of GREEN blocks!!
ReplyDeleteThese blocks look great together. Seems to be a perfect use for small scraps.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are so vibrant! It's going to be a gorgeous quilt when its all done.
ReplyDeleteThose hand dyes make for some awesome backgrounds for the birth trees. What a fun way to use scraps.
