My July goal is complete

I wanted to quilt and bind this little (39” X 53”) flannel Mile a Minute quilt and here it is.
My daughter helped me do some cleaning in my quilting studio and I had more flannel than would fit in the new drawer, plus I was inspired finding and fondling fabrics that were hiding in cardboard boxes.  She decided my fabric needed to be in clear drawers and bins, so I could see what I had, and while sorting I started playing with the flannel and completed enough squares for two little flannel quilts.

I found some great backing fabric in the sale section of a local quilt shop.
Quilted with a favourite whimsical pantograph – Popcorn by Jodi Beamish.
I still have enough squared for another, and I’m wondering what colour to sash it with, should I stick with the turquoise, or try something new?
Check out other finishes at Elm Street Quilts OMG, or perhaps join us in the fun of finishing.
Push yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you.

Pink Leaves

I did a little RainbowScrap Challenge sewing and made these leaf potholders in pink.  Everything looks a bit orange, whereas they are really all shades of pink.

The pattern is from Patchwork Pottery, and I’m trying to make a set each month.

I found some cute buttons in my pink button collection, and some fun fabric for the backs in my stash.

I worked on the binding on Thursday at noon, when I lead a Finishing School at the Library at Mount Royal University and then finished sewing the binding and button detail while watching Blown Away (Netflix) with my husband last night.  It’s a glass blowing competition show, my husband blows glass and one of the competitors is a past instructor of his.  We love glass and have a houseful of glass and quilts.

A plant on my front steps with pinkish leaves.

Here it is in its setting.

Wake up with determination. Go to bed with satisfaction.

Baby Flannel One Monthly Goal

My Goal for June is to quilt and bind this Flannel Mile a Minute baby size quilt.
I wasn’t too sure if I would even try to finish anything this month, I want to be outside as much as possible enjoying the summer weather, however I have the backing for this quilt and it’s all ready to go, plus I’m encouraged by my recent winnings (see below).
Each month I’ve been taking part in Elm Street Quilts OneMonthly Goal, Patty has great sponsors and prizes and once again I am the lucky monthly winner.  The prize I won with my June OMG is three digital patterns by Anne Knight from String & Story!  Thank you Patty and Anne, I’m delighted!

Please check back at the end of the month to see if I was able to complete my OMG this month.
