A rainbow of quarter log cabins

I’ve managed to complete another One Monthly Goal (OMG) to participate in Elm Street Quilts OMG.

My goal was to quilt and bin this rainbow quarter log cabin quilt.

Looking back, I can see that I started sewing these quarter log cabin blocks in January 2018, you can see the first blog post and my inspiration here.

One I had the blocks completed I decided to put them on point and fill in the edges with more rainbow fabric.

Quilted with a rainbow variegated thread and a Hermione Agee pantograph called Aqua Flame.

When looking for a backing fabric I was drawn to this orange Alison Glass sun print, with bits of rainbow colours in it.

Green High Fives

Angela has picked light and lime greens as the colour for the month of October, so I'm continuing to add to my High Five block collection.

On first go through my green scraps I constructed these nine blocks.

I decided they weren't limey enough, so I had another look through my scraps, and precut strips and made a second batch of nine.

I'm slowly getting close to having enough blocks to make a quilt top.

Quarter Log Cabin top

Another month and I have another project I’d like to finish.  This month my goal is to quilt and bind this rainbow Quarter Log Cabin quilt.

The top was pieced in May, as a bonus goal, and then I went looking for suitable backing fabric. I had orange in mind and was happy to find this Alison Glass sun print in orange, I like the little bits of rainbow colours in it.

I’m not sure which quilt design (pantograph) I’m going to use, please come back at the end of the month to see what I’ve done (and if I’ve completed my goal).  Consider joining in the finishing fun at One Monthly Goal (OMG) with Elm Street Quilts.

Can you make a rainbow? Well, maybe not but there are a lot of other things you can do with your talents if you believe that you can despite what others may have discouraged you from doing.
