One Block Wonder

One Block Wonder quilt

Sharon made this one block wonder as a Christmas gift for a good (male) friend and as I was quilting it the men in my house loved it.  I may have to make one for my son as I think it is his favourite of all quilts that have graced my Millennium quilting machine, he likes the geometry of it, so do I.

A year ago while volunteering for the Heritage Park Festival of Quilts, I stood by a One Block Wonder quilt which was made from a panel (six panels actually) and the quilter had put one intact panel on the back of the quilt as back art so that you could see what the quilt had come from.  It was amazing to look at the simple panel on the back and then the front of the intricate quilt.

I think Sharon’s quilt just sparkles, and I may have to move One Block Wonder to the top of my ‘to do’ list.

Good friends are like quilts - they age with you yet never lose their warmth.

  1. That is beautiful. I love the color placement and how you eye just moves all over the quilt.
