This quilt was made by Lorna for her daughter, who loved the
fabric.
Day of the Dead quilt |
Lorna’s daughter felt there wasn’t quite enough of the Day
of the Dead fabric in it, so I found a Sugar Scull pantograph called Fiesta by
Sandrah Burrier to help fill in the complementary fabrics and background with
Sugar Skulls.

Día de los Muertos, also known as the Day of the Dead, is a
holiday when people remember those who have died. Largely celebrated in Mexico,
it dates back to pre-Hispanic civilizations from 2,500 to 3,000 years ago.
Day of the Dead fabric |
My husband fell in love with this quilt and I have been
looking for Fiesta, Sugar Skull or Day of the Dead fabric ever since (no luck
yet).
The life of the dead
is placed in the memory of the living. ~ Marcus
