The fabric for this quilt has been sitting, prepped and ready to begin for a few months, looking at me every time I enter my studio, so it’s time to take it to the next step.
My goal for the month of April will be to complete the top of this quilt for my husband. He likes skulls, so whenever we are in a quilting store he is looking for and collecting skulls, sugar skulls and day of the dead fabric. He has collected quite a stash and I think it’s time I started this quilt before his skulls take over my quilting room. Wanting to feature the fabric, I picked (with his approval) the Aussie shadow quilt pattern found Quiltmania: The Quilt magazine No, 60. I used two blocks of most fabrics and three blocks of some of the favourites. This is going to end up being a near queen sized quilt.Check back at the end of the month to see if I have completed my One Monthly Goal (OMG), taking part in Elm Street Quilts OMG linkup.
Thinking and talking about
death need not be morbid; they may be quite the opposite. Ignorance and fear of
death overshadow life, while knowing and accepting death erases this shadow. ~ Lily

Love the red fabric with skulls. I am making a very pink skull quilt, almost done (and one of my April OMG goals). Pattern is from the magazine modern make. Original is from a Canadian Paul Leger
ReplyDeleteThat is a great pattern choice to feature those fabrics.
ReplyDeleteHi, I used 3 inch squares. The pattern called for 3,5" squares, resulting in a huge quilt ... so 3" is large enough. i can share a better picture if you want so you can copy and colour on a sheet with squares.
ReplyDeleteI started a quilt using this pattern. I used Australian fabrics. Maybe I should pull this UFO out!
