Hunter’s Star

Carol first saw this quilt in a shop in Nova Scotia, and knew she had to make it.
I think the ‘Blowing in the Wind’ pantograph by Irene Steele is a good choice, as these colours remind me of Autumn leaves.  The top thread is variegated thread called Sunset.
And the  back shows off the thread called Lava.
I know Carol, as so many quilter, gives most of her quilts away, I wonder who was the lucky recipient of this beauty?

A Sweet Baby Quilt

Made by Kathleen, such fresh colours and a lovely design.
Quilted with the Popcorn pantograph by Jodi Beamish and a light pink Glide thread called Cotton Candy.
Kathleen included a little strip of back art on the reverse side of this quilt.
I’m very sure Kathleen made this sweet quilt as a baby gift.

A Batik by Della

I didn’t get a name for this quilt by Della and I don’t even know what the pattern is called, but I sure do like it.
Quilted with the Paisley Max pantograph by Jodi Beamish and a khaki coloured thread.
Della added some attractive back art to the other side of her quilt.
I had to include this picture of my oriental poppy in bloom.

Les’ Quilt

Beatrice made this brown with blue (or steely grey) quilt for Les, lucky Les to receive this labour of love.
I love her combination of colours.
We used a Glide thread called Titanium, a gentle addition and contrast to the chocolate fabrics.   For the quilting Beatrice chose the Trellis pantograph set by Patricia E. Ritter, which included a trellis for the edges.

A circular trellis for the center of the squares.

And a  little corner trellis.

Backed with a chocolate brown flannel.

I’m wondering how Les felt to receive this special gift?

Quilted Storage Box

Angela at Soscrappy has chosen green as the colour of the month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and my first green project to play with is a quilted storage box for my little green scraps.
I also wanted to practice quilting spiral circles, as my OneMonthly Goal for this month is to quilt a twin size quilt with spiral circles, so I’ve made my first attempts on this little box.  I can see I need a little more practice, especially in the beginning circles.

My least favourite part of making these boxes is inserting the cardboard, and I still had a black box which was waiting all soft with no supporting cardboard, so I finished it up as well.
You can find the pattern for the Quilted Storage Box in Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Jean Nyberg, and Cheryl Arkison.

Now to use up a few more scraps from my little green box for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge over the weeks of March.

Janet’s quilts

A feast of quilts today, as I have six quilts by Janet to show you.  This first quilt is called Star Fling.
Here is what the whole front looks like.
Quilted with the Shooting Star pantograph by Sue Schmieden and a Celery coloured Glide thread.
Next we have a couple of nine-patch baby quilt, Janet is always ready to welcome the next baby of friends and family with a quilt.
One is backed with a Berenstain Bears fabric.
So Janet choose the Tumblin’ Teddy Bears Pantograph by Patricia E Ritter.
The other is backed with Letters fabric.
For this quilt Janet choose the Animal Crackers pantograph also by Patricia Ritter.

Next we have a quilt called Movie Night, which was quilted with the Baptist Fan pantograph by Hermione Agee and a salmon coloured thread.

Next up is a Fig Tree nine-patch.
Quilted with a mini Baptist fan pantograph, again by Hermione Agee using a lemon ice coloured thread.
Janet’s last quilt is called Rubix Too, a pattern by Prairie Grass Patterns.
For Rubix Too Janet chose the ‘I Love It’ pantograph by by Anne Bright and a light grey thread.
I really like the back of this quilt, such a good way to utilize extra bits left over from the front.
A lot of quilty eye candy for you to enjoy today, from a very prolific Janet.

My OMG for March

Time to post my One Monthly Goal (OMG) for March.

I have one quilt with a backing ready to go in my stash of quilts to finish.  I’ve been stalling for a while on this one as I want to quilt spiraling circles and will have to do that on my domestic machine.  I did find a video/tutorial which was helpful, and I do think I’ll practice on a smaller project first.

This month my goal is to quilt and bind this neutral coloured twin size Mile a Minute quilt.
Okay, now it's time for me to layer and quilt.

If you have a moment check out all the other monthly goals at Elm Street Quilts, and be sure to check back here near the end of the month to see how I’ve done.
