Scrappy Trip Along |
I
decided to look up different words for purple and this is what google gave
me: amethyst, burgundy, damson, grape, heliotrope, hyacinth, lavender, lilac,
livid, magenta, mauve, mulberry, orchid, pansy, plum, raisin, violet,
wine. I was actually looking for a word for my ScrappyTripAlong blocks;
in the end I think they are purple.

Still
had more lavender bits, so added to my Paintbox collection.
Purple Paintbox Collection |
Last
year while doing the Rainbow Scrap Challenge I was thinking about the Rainbow
colours and wondered about the difference between Indigo and Violet. This
year I have lumped all shades and hues into Purple blog posts.
You
can see all kinds of purple quilty things happening on Saturday at Soscrappy,
take a peek.

Love your purple and lavender blocks! Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lesley, I've been enjoying purple and looking forward to a new March colour.
DeleteGreat blocks you made this week. I love the pain box idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy, my paintboxes are not quite as fresh and modern as Oh Fransson! I guess they'll have my flavor.
DeletePurple lavender or violet, your blocks look great. What a fun collection of paintbox blocks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela, I'm having fun, with all the little bits of colour I'm finding.
DeleteWho'd have known there were so many different names for one colour? Just looked up pink - which is my favourite - and there are 29 variations! Whatever they're called, they're lovely :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting isn't it, different connotations and even feelings with different words.
DeleteI like that scrappy trip along in the purples that you've chosen. I did some once and it makes a very nice quilt. With all the colors, it should be very attractive when complete.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pattilou, I'm really enjoying the scrappytripalong.
DeleteLove all your purply pieces, whatever you call the colors. To me (nearly a BFA in art) burgundy and magenta are closer to red. I've always identified indigo as a member of the blue family, and mauve is a dusty rose color - more to pink than purple. I think what we all need is the big box of crayons... I love the scent of a new box of crayons!
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Last year was my first year in the RSC and I was being a bit literalistic about the colours and their names, I think I've loosened up a bit this year. Just enjoying sewing.
DeleteI love your pretty purple blocks. Beautiful fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by and leaving a comment Sheila.
DeleteEspecially your trip around the world blocks!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I'm really enjoying the process.
DeleteReally love the last picture. That would make a very cute little quilt. So many pretty purple projects...
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb, once I get a few blocks of all the colours this year, it will probably make a substantial quilt - we'll see. I think my daughter would be glad to see me stop at just purple - her favorite colour.
DeleteI love purple and your purple trip around the world is great! Your blocks are wonderful too. It doesn't take hard blocks or ones with lots of pieces to make a lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, yes there are some beautiful simple quilts out there and I feel good using up fabric, especially scraps!
DeleteThe Trip Along is beautiful! Your use of light and dark together is very effective.
ReplyDeleteThanks Faye, Last year I was loving doling Mile a Minute in the RSC and this year I'm really enjoying the ScrappyTripAlong.
