Sapphire

Sapphire, lapis lazuli, I love the colour blue, so I am really enjoying playing with my blue scraps this month for the Rainbow ScrapChallenge.  I had planned on making sapphire coloured hearts this week however when I prewashed the blue fabric it ran, now it is soaking in a salt water bath.  It has already had two vinegar baths; I do hope it sets so I can use it.  Consequently I decided to make blue ScrappyTrip Along blocks.

I also worked on a couple of cushion tops; this pattern is from the book Pillow Pop: 25 Quick-Sew Projects to Brighten Your Space by Heather Bostic.  Hopefully I’ll post a completed picture soon.

Did I mention I love blue; I’m glad that blue is an IN colour this year and was able to pick up a pair of sapphire blue jeans (and a skirt).  I think I’ll be loading my wardrobe with blue, to make up for all of seasons when my favourite colour is not available in the stores.

I think I'll wear these every day, sigh!

  5. Even though I always prewash, I had a very upsetting lesson with a red fabric that ran in a finished quilt. I had washed it once and I thought it was enough. Now...if I use a red that I remotely think might bleed I wash more than once to make sure. Good to know that I should be watching the blue fabrics as well!

    1. Ellen, I find turquoise is an unstable colour, as is red, orange and sometimes chocolate. I had a very pale pink once that bled a lot. I always prewash, just one more opportunity to fondle the fabric.

  6. Love seeing all your blue inspiration! I have so much blue fabric I'm always thinking of new ways to use it up. A blue and white quilt is definitely on the list. And you've reminded me of my blue glass bead bracelets, too!
