Simple Star blanket

A couple of years ago my Long-arm quilting group in Calgary decided it would be a good idea to have a group entry in the Heritage Park Festival of Quilts.  The thought was that we would all make the same quilt however quilt it with our own design, to bring attention to long-arm quilters and the different kind of work that we can do.  Here is the quilt that we chose.

I’m not comfortable with custom quilting – call me the queen of pantographs – so I used the Shooting Star pantograph by Sue Schmieden.

Quilted with Hawiian Blue Glide thread.

I did get one close-up of one of the other quilts, so you can see a lovely custom quilter’s inspiration.

And here is a picture of our display at the Festival.

Making a real Star Blanket (also called Texas Star quilt) has been on my bucket list and this year I have started the Gravity quilt by Jaybird Quilts.
