Pink Slabs

For the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, I finished my two pink slabs, styled after Cheryl Arkinson’s slabs in the book Sunday Morning Quilts by Cheryl Arkinson and Amanda Jean Nyberg.

I also did the cutting for a couple more Wonky Churn Dash, which will probably be my post next week.  I might have to start working on another Rainbow quilt project as most of the ones that I have started have nearly all their blocks.  I should start completing some of these rainbow tops – I think I need a “Piecing the Tops Challenge”.

  2. I like your slabs. I did a pink slab for a group quilt. It's a challenge to not make them really log cabin like. You did a great job.

  6. Staring a new project sounds like just the right answer to finishing most of the blocks on the others. Congratulations on great progress. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilts.

  8. Lots of pretty pinks. I know what you mean about needing a "piecing tops challenge" for the scrappy blocks. None of the 4 projects I've made as part of the RSC has made it to finished quilt stage. I hope to get one that far by the end of next month. Good luck with yours.

  9. Edith, your slabs are gr8! I too join the chorus of "just need to finish it" quilters, and yes the blocks are all made.

  10. I really like how your pink slabs turned out, Edith. How large are they and how are you going to use them?

    1. Sheila, my slabs are 15", Cheryl makes hers 15 1/2". I'm making two of each colour for the RSC, so my plan is to make them into a rainbow quilt. At the end of the year I'll lay them out and see if need to make more or if I'm happy with what I have. It's a nice way to use scraps and I like the large size of the block, however I think I prefer the mile a minute style scrappy block.

  11. I like your slabs of pink. I am doing that with my scraps as well. It really is a lot of work, but it is so much fun that I don't realize how much time goes into them and it is also a good feeling to know we don't have to throw them away. We can make more fabric!
