Paint Box – Pink

Paint Box Quilt Blocks

More Pink Paint Box blocks following the Oh Fransson! quilt along.  Last year I did a couple of Paint Box blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and I’m hoping to get a whole set done this year.

Scrap management

As well as sewing my Paint Box Blocks I decided to do more scrap management.  Before putting fabric back in my stash I decide first if it is a big enough piece to keep intact for another project or if I can cut the bits that are left into pieces that will be easy to work with in future quilt blocks.  I have cut my pinks this week into strips of various sized, some five inch squares to be used in a probable Disappearing Nine Patch and a few small and large tumblers for upcoming quilts.

There are so many great pink scrappy projects happening in blog land, have a look at soscrappy to see what others are doing this week.

Quilters know when to hold’em and when to fold’em.

  4. You do have some pretty pink fabrics. Getting my scraps in some sort of order is my long-term goal for this year. Not too sure how long it will take me - might end up being a two year goal!

    1. Ellen, I'm just managing as I go, just dealing with the scraps that I'm actually touching just now, otherwise I'd be overwhelmed. I do let them just sit in a heap at the end of my cutting table, and then every once in a while I have to deal with the pile so that I have room to work. I also have a whole drawer which is just little scraps and irregular strips (mile a minute stuff).

  6. Such pretty paint box blocks!
I've often thought how handy it would be to have scraps pre-cut into 2 1/2" strips and 5-inch squares. Great organizing!
