Purple Paintbox Blocks

Purple Paintbox Quilt Blocks

In the theme of Purple for February in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge I have made eight Purple Paintbox Blocks, following Elizabeth Hartman’s Quiltalong.  I hope to have a whole set of these blocks by the end of the year.  As I was sewing these blocks I realized that I cut a couple of extra strips, I also found one more solid purple in my stash, so I hope to make a couple more blocks before the end of the month.

Scrap Management

I did a little more scrap management and cut various sized strips, a few five inch squares and some large and small tumblers.  Most of my scrap management cutting is done with my Go! FabricCutter, amazingly quick and easy.

If you live in Calgary and want to see the Go Cutter in action Out of Hand is offering a free demo/class on April 18th called “Accuquilt Acumen."  In my class at Out of Hand called “Low Volume – High Impact” also in April, which is Go! Cutter friendly, you will actually get to give it a whirl.  Warning, once you have tried the Go! Cutter you will want one!  Click here if you want to see a picture of the Low Volume class quilt which I call Pieceful Rainbow.

  1. What a pretty low volume quilt. I've heard lots of talk about low volume lately, such pretty look. What a great job you've done on all your purple scraps. Beautiful!

    1. Thanks Angela, the low volume was different for me, I usually do bold clear colour, so would go to bed each night thinking "I can pick that out tomorrow", even my family was saying, that's different for you. I just kept going and when I laid it out on the floor before sewing the top together we were all impressed.

  9. Pretty purple blocks. In order for me to management my scraps, I would need to do more than 1 Rainbow block a month...but that's what I have time for now. Maybe I will make more as my days free up over the summer.
