Canadian Quilters Blogathon Canada

Today we are into the third stop on Blogathon Canada organized by Sew Sisters Quilt Shop, be sure to stop by their blog and enter for a chance to win great giveaways from their sponsors.  Every couple of days we visit a new province or region and two blog hosts with links to many other bloggers.  So be sure to check out our two Alberta host bloggers, Every Fray and She Can Quilt and be sure to enter their giveaways as well.

Welcome to Inch by Inch Quilting, I am a Long arm quilter, living a colourful life, playing with fabric and turning people on to quilting.  As well as long-arm quilting and piecing my own quilts I teach quilting at a local quilt shop and do commissions.  I've been sewing all my life and started my first quilt when I was nine.

Here is a picture of my studio, I’ve taken over the family room, however I think my family likes that I’m in the middle of the house, almost always there when they need me.

What am I working on?  Well I have a rack of finished quilt tops, I’m not telling you how many quilts are hanging there.

I also have a few of my quilts ready to go on the long-arm machine, however my quilts are kind of like the shoemakers children – customer’s quilts come first – so my quilts keep getting bumped in the queue.

I also have many works in progress, there are a few stacks of blocks waiting to be laid out and sewn together.

My blog is mainly a place to feature my customer’s quilts, so page back through my posts to see all the beautiful quilts that have been brought to me to quilt.  I prefer pantographs as I’m not entirely comfortable with custom quilting, perhaps someday.

I also have a ‘Mile a Minute’ six week quilt tutorial which has been very popular, it starts here.

I have plans to do more tutorials, I have ideas, and just need some time between customer quilts.  Stay tuned!

Now I have a giveaway, made by a customer and quilter friend Joanne, who makes one of a kind repurposed jewelry, home decor and gift items that appeal to the quilter as many are sewing related. Check out her Etsy shop called Etcetera.  Joanne has provided this darling repurposed pincushion made from a vintage (children's) teacup.

  4. Nice to meet you. I, too, use the family room but yours is bigger than my space. However, most of my supplies are downstairs with my two stand alone embroidery machines. Thanks for the giveaway. Pincushion is very nice.

  5. I can relate to just about everything in your post. I have my pile of unquilted tops in a cupboard, but find that customer quilts always come first too. Nice to meet you through Blogathon Canada!

  15. I can relate to quilting in the middle of the house though I do have an upstairs space where I store my fabric and have my babylock quilting machine. Like you, I have an important quilt ( our son's wedding quilt) waiting in the queue because other smaller things keep interrupting my progress. I have been trying to get his quilt made for a year- they got married last February- hopefully before their first anniversary ...
I have often thought about making a teacup pincushion- this one is sweet- your winner will love it.
    Regards from Edmonton,

  18. I do love pincushions and this one is so pretty. I wish my family like me taking over the house with my quilt. They mostly complain about it, although they like to get the quilts.
