2016 Finish-A-Long

I am so happy that I have found a new Finishing party. The 2016 Finish-A-Long is a quarterly finishing party, so I’m posting pictures of the quilts that I would like to finish for the first quarter of 2016.  Last year I took part in a monthly Finishing party and I felt the pace of one of my own quilts a month was a doable goal, so I want to stick with that pace.

I have picked a quilt from three different stacks, I have quilts ready to be quilted, just like my customer quilts, front and back draped over a hanger.  Then I have a quilt rack with quilt tops, these are finished (or real close) and in need of quilt backs.  Then I have stacks of finished blocks which need to be sewn together into a quilt top.

From my ready to be quilted pile I chose this Mile a Minute quilt with a frog border.  Last year I bought a great pantograph called Leap Frog by Patricia Ritter, so it's ready to go.

From my 'quilt top' rack I chose a very old quilt top, perhaps the oldest in my collection, an Irish Chain in yellows and blues.  I will need to find a back, probably a white (I do have an extra wide bolt of white – that should work), and plan to do some custom quilting, of continuous curves and I’ll have to decide what goes in the middle of the white.

This quilt looks better in the sunlight.

My third project is also very old comes from my stacks of blocks, some black and white crazy patch style blocks with just a dash of colour, I’m ready to make this into a quilt, so will look for just the right backing fabric and pantograph.

So pleased to have found this Finish-A-Long, and looking forward to finishing up and few more projects, I will be posting these finished projects at the end of this quarter, between March 31 - April 7, 2016.  Check out what others are doing, and perhaps join up in the Finish-A-Long – it feels so good.
